What is an Officiant?

Our Ministers

Our ministers have been ordained in a non-denominational Christian church in Atlanta, Georgia and through the Universal Life Ministries Monastery in Seattle, Washington.  The credentials ensure that we can provide flexibility in our ceremonial services.

The officiants at Cape Ministry are ordained ministers with the knowledge of Massachusetts laws and requirements. They are committed to providing a meaningful, caring and memorable ceremony.

A Marriage officiant is a civil officer who performs acts of marriage, commitment or civil union. The main responsibility is to receive and witness the consent of the intended spouses and to ensure the legal formalities, and hence the validity of the marriage or civil union, are observed. Unlike wedding and civil union ceremonies, there is no legal filing of paperwork required for commitment ceremonies. However, in the case of Marriage or civil unions, there are requirements that vary dramatically by jurisdiction.
